Summary

Erysirelothrix rhusiothiae (E rhusioathi) was isolated in 14 stains horn 14 swine with clinical erysiplas in a field ste farm. With the ag-ar gel precapthtion (AGP) all isolates were identifial to Ire serovar in Serovars of 12 E. rhusioathiae strains supplial by manufacturers of animal biological product were identified to Ire ‘7 laand5 1alb.&rdingtotheAGPtestheseistainsofErhusiothiuseifor attenuatl live vaccine prcduction by manufacturers of animal biological prcductrs in Taiwan were identified tote serovars la and 2a2b. The growth curve of E.

rhusiothi was investagatl with shaldng culture sa conditions and fermej&tion methods. The results indicate that the maximum level of growth at 37? was reached 16 halt seal incculation. The concentrations of the bacterial cells reached l.5-2.3xl 0- 100FLJhnL and then treasal gradually, Although there were no significant differences among the three methods of culture for bacterial growth, the concentration of bacterial cells 2.3x10- 10 CFUkiL from fermentuton culture exceti those from the other two methods. Trial gcduction of troth attenuati vaccine and inactivati polyvalent Inrin produced growth agglutination antilx:dy titers in the range 1:16-1 :128 in swine.
