Samples, 230 sen, 230 saliva and 30 fftes, were wlkti from sows and gilt raiser] on 8 pig farms that had hog cholera cccuxti. All the salivary and fecal samples showerl negative for both virts isolation and first reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction with aset of universal primers, but 51 salivary samples (22%) and S feral samples (17 %) Iffame p€i& aft the snd reamplification with another set of nestel primers. These positive samples were all confirmed to contain the hog cholera mnmary field viral strain aft tested with LPCV speific primers and nested primers. Among theseconimnateihers,sowsorgiltwithlowantibcdytiters (SNSO?32X)were only4.35 %,andthosewithhighanti&dytiters(SNSO?384X)wexeescalaied dramatically to 65.22 %, And it semen that sows or gilt with high titers were shedding virus more frsjntly than thc€e with middle (48-256 X) and low titers. The posibthtywere2S %, 1?%and2O%,resetively.
