The nci&ia of a&rtion was from 10 % to 87 % in outbroken faa-ms in 1993,andatoiof976outof130puegnancies(46%)werefoundakxxtioninour investigation. Gross lesions in abort! fetuses included generaliz!z! hncahage and swollen liver. Chiamydia rzitaa was isolani from tsues of a&vst fetuses and from vaginal swake of akad dce. Chlamydiai antibcdi were detettsi among 67 % to 100 % of abort! dces from epizoo& flocks. The C psittaci was diagnosed as the causai agent in en3xtc aktion. This is the first xerc’il on chiamydial isolation and antibcdy surveys in epiaDotic abortion in goat in Taiwan.
