Summary

Fouriccal isolates (IBRV-1973, IBRV-DS, IBRV-YL, IBRV-KS),2vinilent strains (IBRV-USl, IBRV-U52) and 2 attenua1 strains (IBRV-JAP,IBRV-U53) of infectious bovine rhinotaclttis vinis (IBRV) were gopagatd in MDBK cells. Nucleic acids extracted from the vin,s-infeci cells were compared by restriction endonwtlease (RE; Hind ‘Ex’ RZBam Hand Pst disgestions, DNA RE ratterns tetween vinises IERV-YL and IBRV- KS were not disinguishable, however, their RE patterns were different from thcce of IBRV-DS and IBRV-1973 in which their RE pattern were not identical either. A deletion of approximate 750 bp was found in IBRVninmarY JAP strain when its molecular weight was compared to that of IBRV-DS virus.

The amount of virus DNA extracted from either infected cells or surernatant fluid was compared by the times that DNA was prepared for electrophoresis. The result revealed that the amount of virus DNA from infeceti cells was at least 10 times more than that from surernatant fluid.
