Two hundred and thirty-four deer were tested with 1 dose (1,000 JU) bovine PPO. PPD was injected intradermally at the cervical sites. The results were determ-ined 72 hours after injection according to British system.
Six strains of Mycobacterium bovis, 4 of M. avium complex and 1 of M. chel-onei subsp. cheponei were isolated from 11 deer. Those 3 Mycobacteria species arc important in public health since they will cause typical or atypical tuberculosis in human.
