Summary

Twenty-two hog cholera antibody flee sndary SPF pigs with 5-7 weeks of age were divideed mt S groups. Pigs of 1 and 2 were infrti intramascularly with one dose of the live vaccines of the cell cu1hneadaptd LPOTS strain and LPC-China strain, resilvuly. Pigs of groups 3 and 4 were injxed with the inactivated oily vaccines of LFC-TS stain and HC-TD field strain twice at an interval of 4 weeks. Geometric mean neutralizing antibody titer at 4 weeks afr vaccination of the pigs of groups 1, Z and 3 were 1:363, 1:436, and 1:38, respaztively. No antibody response was deteDtedinthepigs ofgroup4. Afrr challenge with 1O(4.O) MU) of the virulent AU) virus, mild feb-lie reaction Summary (<Mc) and symptoms were found in all pigs which were vaccinated with 2 live vaccines (groups 1 and 2) and survived without shedding, Over 41? fever was found in the pigs vaccinatel with 2 inactivatd vaccines and all pigs vactenated with the inactivati HC-T1) stain and controls developed severe symptoms and died after challcnge. However, 2 pigs which were vaccinated with the inactivated LPC-TS strain survived. Gross lesions, such as spleen infarction, rripheral hemorrhage of lymph ncdes and petezhial hemorrhage of kidney were oberved in the pigs vathnati with the inactivael vaccines (exdui 1 pig vaccinaI with the LPOTS stain). However, nothing happened in the pigs vaccinated with the live vaccines. Result imply that rxromotion of the quality of inactivated vaccine is needed.
