Summary

Animal Health Research bstitu (AHRfl is the unique na&ral animal diseases diagnos& la&nt&ry in Taiwan. In order to strengthen the caebthty of diagnosis, surveillance, uevention and control for animal diseases, we apply the clinical pathology, his toathology, microbiology and epidemiology methcds to diagnose the animal diseases and provide preventive approaches. A total of 2S43 cases including 654 ruminant cases, 715 avian cases, 203 pcrrcine cases, 351 ret and b&atoq animal cases, and 120 ya& animal cases were subrtht3 to the Animal Disease Diagnostic Cent of AHRI for vetrinary seste and disease diagnosis. Among these cases, nest of the ruminant cases were subrnitti for surveillance of transmissible sgiform encephalopathy from cattle and geet. Most of the avian cases were submital for surveillance of avian infln virus. Porcine drcxy,irus infection, rcine respiratory disease complex, salmonelkxsis, and porcine esdiovirus infection were the ma swine diseases.
