Summary

Sixty ducks of 4 weeks old were randomly divided into 3 grouis, 20 in each, and were inocula with 4C0) TCID5O of pseirlorabies vints (PRV) by oronasal, intacerebral and in - tramusalar roots xespeDtively. Results indicatd that all but the ducks in oronasal incxula - tion group were infect. The majco- clinical signs were the disturbance of the central nerv - ous systin only. Depession, unusual movement of head, convulsions, coma and swldendeath were esent. Pruritus was not olierved in any of the ducks incculaal with PRV. Petch - ial hemcaha, ges, marked rerivascular
cuffing and diffuse gliosis were found in the brains of the infectd ducks. All vital ummary organs susrensions, sea, oronasal and dceral discharges of the n animals were
submited for isolation of the PRV. It was shown that the virus was only detectl in the brain tissues of the infeced animals, The sea of allanimals did not contain setstable levels of RPV neutralizing antibcdies. The da suggest that the infection of PRV in ducks can ke established by intacer - eli-al or intramuscular inoculations and the brain tissues seem to 1e the main organ for the replccation of PRV. The role of the duck in the transmission of PRV is hmitd; there - fore it is not impcnt in either as a reservoir or dissemination of PRV.
