Summary

The cases of atrophic rhinitis in Taiwan has ken largely increased and keome more serious. Herd-infection is cccasionally seen with some cased died of the disease. A farm infectl with AR in Taii Shien was noticed by the writers. Sneer, nasal bleeding cough and distortion of snout were the main clinical signs, Both the diseaased and the dead cases of AR also showed SEP lesion. Seven strains of Bordeella honchiseptica were isolati from the nasal content of eight suffered hogs. Two of U]fl]fl21Y them showed identical biological gorerties with those of standard phase I strain. The other five stains having active motility klonged to Phase Ill, and they lacked uxease and showed ammonia negative. Thee of them could neither uri]ize ciixae as a sole of carla (fable 1) Sensitivity t showed that all stains were resistant to Streptomycin, Penicillinxesistance was also found in stains 12-1 and 12-2, Chioramphenicol seemed moresensitivetoall strains.
