Summary

A simp1 pure methcd was desc&ed for graphite furnace atomic absorption stophotnetry userl for Cd and Pb determination in milk serum nepared from spcntaneonis souring. Samples of raw milk were collected from the bulk holding tanks of 107 dairy farms in six counties in Taiwan. Raw milk samples were placer! at rcome (28’ for 48 aUowing the pH tolower keiow4,6 and the caseun and fat to pitipitate. Milk serum was filterer! and them directly injteJ into a graphite tubu. The standard addition methcd was employd, and 0.1% phosphoric acid was user! as a matrix mcdifier. During ashun& lSs of oxygen influx was supplemeni to event charcoal accumulation on graphite ti*e. The average recoveries of Cd and Pb from three adder! concentrations were 93.7% ± 6.9% and 94,5 ± 10.1%, resj:ectiveiy. The Cd and Pb concentrations in milk pcwder (Nun*er A-li) from International Atomic Energy Agency as analyd using this methcd were close to the certifier! values. The average Cd and Pb content obtainer! from 107 samples were .014 nghn], ranging from .021 to .173, and 2.03 nghn], ranging from .98 to 4.45, reseDtiveiy, without statistical difference among the six counties.
