Summary

Since August 1, tie authors have firstly molati a vns from a chick with ckaal pasting syrnjtrn by means of allantoic cavity incoilation of ±dn emhyo at Hsut. Juang. And den tie authors isolated abxt 30 stains from cases with tie sarre syrnfls got from all over tie island by means of chicken kidney tissue cultures. So tie authoi think that tire vnses were widely distzibuung in many pc’ultry farms of this country and dirtDdy or indisecdy influence the hygiese of the farms

The rpzces of these stiles ‘ate to identify tie biological, physiox&emxal, morphological, and immunological properties of tie isolates, and to clarify their pathogennty

Now the result were swnmarirl as follows:

1.In 19%, tIe authors firstly iso1al a virus from chicks with dceal pasting symsDm and high mortality by means of allantoic cavity incollanon of chicken ernhyce. And den from tie cases with the sane clinical symptoms and tIe 40) cases diagnosal lere, titauthcusisolatd3Oisolat bymeansofCKtzssueorlture

2.On tie CK cell culture, the isolation could cause syncial type of CPE and form plaques sin 1.0-5.Ommin6-9days pcsimcculatiom The virus titer inCKcell cultures was 1(6.040736 PFUhnl, Aft suinmg with may (Jrunwald Giernsa stain, tie lasophulic cytoplasmic inclusion &dies were oktervei in the infati CK cell cultures. ‘lie infectivity of tie isolates could he highly aihan! (about 40-50 thrif) after cue hour treatrent with 0.1% trypzin at 37? ircubutr.

3.The isolat prolifesa& and causes! the chicken esnbycc to the de both by allantot cavity inoculation and by CAM zncculaton. Swelling and diffuse type of pocks on tie CAM, clark green liver or whiesh-gray TeSDXCGis cci the liver of infected esnhyc’s were inoculated with tie isola by tie CAM rout,

4.The isolati did not agglutinate RBC of chicken, hut showed resistance to fl% ethyl ether, 0.1% sorhum oxytholae,, 0.25% tysin, 30 mInute teatrat at 507, and teatrat in PH3.0 buffer solution.

5.Thenncleicthdofthetsolar was RNA,

6.The &ctrccx micrograpJi of the isolates showed tie virus occisisini ofa core and acapsid and sin R)rra Sonrtirrc coreless forms notl. lie capsid ci the viruses was okeavai to ha’ a Inagorrai shape and comaal of hollow capsoineres.

7,The 30 stains isolati here were closely similar to the five saotypes classiftl by Kawamura. These were 11 strains (36.%) helongai to prototype staIn Uchida, 7 stains stainOS-161, andlstrains (6.66%)tostrainTS142.

8 According to the above otteswaticci of biological, phystcdnnical, morphological, and irnmunOlogk3l piopert, all isolat ‘ate irtiflM as Avian Ravirus.
