Summary

For understanding of preservatives, formaldehyde and thirnersol, in the inactivated vaccines or residual moisture in the live vaccines, totally 42? samples for statutory assay of poultry vaccines sold in Taiwan, including the impored and the domestc, were examined during April 2(05 and March 2036. Poultry vaccine samples were onsisei of monovalent or multivalent vaccines against Newcastle disease, infectious honchitis, infectious bursal disease. infectious oory or egg drop syndrome. Significance difference of result among manufacturers or ketween the impstd and the domestic were tl by analysis of variance. fri terms of preservatives used in inactivai vaccines, the result of the amount of formaldehyde in 22? samples from 1? IUflJIL3O manufacturers showed significant difference by manufacturer (p <0.01), In addition, up to 83.33% of domestic inactiva vaccines and only 9.09% of the impo’rted were tested containing formaldehyde in amount over 0.1%. This indicated that formaldehyde was commonly used as the preservative by domestic vaccine manufacturers. As regards the thirrtrsol, 168 samples from 16 manufacturers were examined and the result showed that no significant difference among manufacturers or etweii the frnportandthedomestic(p>0.0S). hregardtotheresulisofresidualmoistureinlive vaccines, 20) samples from 1? manufacturers were measured and no significant difference among manufacturers (p >0.05) was found as well.
