Summary

An exreriment was carried out to test the safety and potency of the Lapinized Hog Cholera and the Crystal Violet Hog Cholera Vaccines recently used in Paraguay, The results were surnrnari as follow:

Safety t for both Lapinized Hog Cholera Vaccine and Crystal Violet Hog Cholera Vaccines were satisfactory. Two pigs for each kind of vaccine were incrilal with 10 doses4Ag of respective vaccine. No any clinical sigi (including fever reaction) was oIerved during the experimental rericd. Lapinized Hog Cholera Vaccine inccuIa1 pigs were challenged with 10”S MU) virulent blood Of ALD stain at 10 days pttSummary vaccination. AU pigs except pigs vaccinated with Crystal Violet Vaccine group A (See table 1) survived to the challenge.

Pigs vaccinatul with one dccc of LapiniTa3d HOg Cholera Vaccine could stand the virulent Hog Cholera virus (l0”MLD, AU) stain) challenge at as early as 3 days pcctvaccination, while those vaccinal with one dose of Crystal Violet Hog Cholera Vaccine group B at 2 weeks post-vaccination, and those vaccinated with one dose of Crystal Violet Hog Cholera vaccine group A not until 4 weeks ptt-vaccination (See table 2.)
