Summary

For monitoring the prevalence of egg drop syndrome (EDS) occurred in laying ducks and beerier in Tai a serological survey scheme using hemagglutina-tioninhibition t was carrier! out during Octoker 198 8-March1999. The result of the survey indicated that the EDS antibcdy xevaIence in laying ducks was 49.4% (180 ),andhJergse9.8% (38B8?).ThedaferreithattheEDScan infect the laying duck and breeder ges and may transmit among these commercial waterfowl herds. The serological prevalence of EDS in laying ducks was significantly different from that that of breeder ge by cM-scpiare test (Pc 0.01), During the survey, some laying duck herds were also obierveri clinically the decreased egg pt-cduction and rough egg shell. We suppe that further research should Ire done to clarify the athogenidty of this disease and it eaomic impact on egg production of waterfowls. In general, the distribution of EDS-’76 antibodies in laying ducks and heeding geese will ire analyard by HI method.
